Milk maid, milch mädchen, I think right away of that famous brand of canned milk :-). Jan Vermeer, I think right away of Girl with the Pearl Earring. I've seen the movie, that's why. I remember how the artist was trying to get a perfect picture with the help of the light coming from the side window. Light is very important to artists, I don't know what it is for painter but for photographers, they go light stalking :-).

Fine Art: Girl with a Pearl Earring

I really find her beautiful based on today's standard. And she must have been really beautiful during those times no wonder she was made muse by the artist replacing the artist's wife (uh-oh!). I've watched the movie, the role of the girl was given to Scarlett Johansson. Well, there's a resemblance there, can't decide anymore who's prettier :-).
